Stephen DiAdamo is a research scientist at Cisco in the quantum network group. He did his bachelor’s of computer science at the University of Toronto and master’s of mathematics at the Technical University of Munich in Germany. He continued with his PhD in electrical engineering at the TU Munich, where he worked on developing simulations and protocols for quantum networks and developing architectures for distributed quantum computers. His current work involves architectures for future quantum networks, and application development and simulations of quantum networks.
This talk will be an overview of cryptography in communication networks, why our current cryptography techniques are insufficient to protect against quantum computers, and what solutions are under development to solve these problems. We will then discuss how quantum networks are deployed and the challenges involved with potential solutions. Finally we will discuss our design for a classical-quantum network integration based on packet-switched networks.
